With the Mk2 3.8 of 1959, Jaguar invented the saloon car that was as fast as a sports car. But it took the firm over 30 years to repeat the trick with the supercharged XJR.
Developed by Jaguar's racing team TWR, the XJR combined traditional Jaguar wood and leather with blistering supercar performance to rival the best from BMW and Audi.
The XJR is one of Jaguar's hidden gems. Its 4 litre straight six engine develops over 320 bhp and yet the driver is cosseted with everything you'd expect of a Jaguar - serenity, style and wood. Lots of leather and wood.
